Computer Labs Marymount houses two complete computer laboratories: the main facility near the Pitman Library, and a portable lab consisting of an Apple Macintosh (TM) computer cart, with twenty Power iMacs and wireless internet, which can be taken from classroom to classroom.
In addition, all classrooms have one or more Macintosh computers and printers for student use and class projects. Educational software, sound Internet research practices, and word processing tools enrich the entire K-8 curriculum; in the computer lab itself, students are taught more advanced technology applications.
The computer labs, the library, and the classrooms are connected to the Internet through a T-1 connection. This allows fast internet access at each computer. A carefully monitored firewall reinforces the school's policy of responsible Internet access.
Scheduled time for classes allows students regular access to computers for working on class assignments and developing their skills. Computer classes are designed to compliment grade curricula through a teaching partnership between the technology instructor and the classroom teacher.
