Affording Marymount

All Marymount families are important to our community and we work diligently to provide affordable tuition rates each year. At Marymount, we understand the value of an independent school education and we strive to make our program affordable to all qualified students.
At Marymount,  tuition assistance is based solely upon demonstrated financial need. Tuition awards vary by grade level and situation and provide families from a range of socio-economic backgrounds access to affording a Marymount education.

To help determine each family’s need, Marymount subscribes to Smart Aid for tuition assistance processing and assessment.

Currently, 40 percent of Marymount families receive tuition assistance, and we award more than $1 million in aid each year.

Tuition Assistance Application Process

The request for assistance for new students is a separate process from the admission process. It does not affect one’s application for admission. As funds are limited and competition keen, families are strongly encouraged to complete their application by the Friday, January 30, 2021 deadline. Grants toward tuition are awarded annually and are need-based. Award letters are mailed on Friday, March 5, 2021.

The Tuition Assistance Application is a Multi-Step Process:

  1. Complete the online Tuition Assistance Application at
  2. If this is your first time applying to Marymount, please submit copies of tax returns and W-2’s from 2019 to the Admission Office
  3. When available, submit copies of tax returns and W-2’s from 2020 to the Admission Office
  4. Submit a letter detailing special family financial circumstances, if any.
Please do not jeopardize the consideration of your family’s application for tuition assistance by filing late or not completing your file. Late applications will only be considered after all timely applications have been reviewed and then only if there are funds remaining.
After Friday, March 19, 2021, Marymount moves to a rolling admission process. We will continue to accept both admission applications and tuition assistance applications on a first-come, first-served space-available basis.

Marymount supports a long-standing commitment to making a Marymount education accessible to students from diverse backgrounds with varied interests and talents. In order to accomplish this goal, we offer a Tuition Assistance Program and a variety of payment plans.
With the help of generous contributions from alumni/ae, parents, faculty and staff, and charitable foundations, Marymount of Santa Barbara offers financial aid to deserving students with limited financial resources.
It is important that the family assumes the primary responsibility for financing a student’s education. Families must consider all their personal resources when applying to the school for funds. Income is only one determining factor for assistance; thus, there is no one “profile” that qualifies or disqualifies a family to receive aid. Tuition assistance awards vary greatly depending on circumstances; awards have varied from $1000 to an amount approaching full tuition.
